2002年2月，諾拉瓊絲在Blue Note唱片公司旗下發行她的首張個人專輯「Come Away With Me遠走高飛」時，當時22歲的這位年輕歌手並不曉得這張專輯會成為一張熱門暢銷作品。事實上，當時的她並沒有對專輯可能會獲得的成績抱持很高的期望：「我喜歡把期望值降低一點，因為這樣的話，一旦成績還不錯，你就會享受到意外的驚喜。」諾拉在紐約的Sear錄音室裡為她的新專輯進行最後的混音工作時，做出以上的表示。
諾拉瓊絲現在帶著歌迷們引頸企盼許久的第二張專輯「Feels Like Home回家」，又一次地挑動聽眾的心弦。身兼歌手/創作者與鋼琴演奏者三重身分的諾拉在這張新專輯中，再度與製作人Arif Mardin、錄音工程師Jay Newland以及與她默契嫻熟的樂團成員們傾力合作演出。專輯中除了諾拉自己以及她與老搭檔Lee Alexander共同譜寫的作品之外，也收錄了幾首由與諾拉合作的樂團成員以及她的好友所創作的歌曲，除此之外，諾拉也重新翻唱了三首經典老歌：湯尼馮查德（Townes Van Zandt）的Be Here To Love Me、湯姆威茲（Tom Waits）與太太Kathleen Brennan合寫的The Long Way Home以及艾靈頓公爵（Duke Ellington）的Melancholia，諾拉並且為Melancholia一曲填上歌詞，將曲名改為Don’t Miss You At All。
另一件同樣讓諾拉在錄製這張專輯時感到很興奮的事，就是請到著名搖滾團體樂隊合唱團（The Band）的鼓手Levon Helm以及風琴/手風琴手Garth Hudson來助陣。身為他們多年歌迷的諾拉邀請這兩位前輩樂手為她之前已經錄好的What Am I to You這首歌曲做最後的修飾：「當時我們已經錄過五遍了，但都還是不滿意。」諾拉突然靈機一動，就打電話給Tony Scherr請他來試試吉他的部分，然後她又邀請Levon以及Garth來幫忙：「真的是很特別的經驗。我對他們兩位有著崇高的敬意，而且他們人都好好。」
至於經典歌曲重新演繹的部分，諾拉選擇了湯尼馮查德的Be Here To Love Me，她表示Adam Levy在這首歌曲中所演奏的吉他部分，是Adam在整張專輯裡最讓她喜愛的演奏表現。原本諾拉選這首歌曲的用意在於拉快整張專輯的節奏，沒想到最後...「我們還是以慢調處理。」諾拉解釋道：「Garth的手風琴表現很棒，Kevin、Adam和Daru演唱合音部分。這是一首很棒的歌曲，我很喜歡湯尼。」
諾拉也是湯姆威茲的歌迷。諾拉在新專輯裡，選擇了他所演唱（由湯姆威茲與太太Kathleen Brennan合寫）的The Long Way Home，諾拉的版本中加入了強尼凱許（Johnny Cash）風格的輕快吉他做為前導：「我在一場湯姆的演唱會上遇到湯姆跟他太太，湯姆問我說有沒有聽過他寄給我的試聽帶。」諾拉表示：「我根本不知道他有寄東西給我，但我告訴他我一定會把他寄給我的東西追回來。」諾拉真的把試聽帶給找了回來，也聽過幾遍，但起初她有點不敢詮釋湯姆的歌曲：「我們在演唱會中唱過幾首他的歌曲，但是真的很難演繹他的作品，因為我太喜歡他自己的風格了，我是他的忠實歌迷。所以後來我們採取跟湯姆原來的詮釋方式十分相近的做法來完成這首歌曲。」
「Feels Like Home」專輯中也收錄了諾拉四年前就構思完成的一首作品－為艾靈頓公爵（Duke Ellington）的名曲Melancholia填上歌詞的Don’t Miss You At All。諾拉早就為這首歌曲錄好試聽帶，並且也常在演唱會中演唱，這次錄製新專輯時，諾拉決定要把這首曲子收錄其中，而Blue Note的總裁Bruce Lundvall對這首歌曲也相當喜愛「我不是很刻意地要去改編這首歌曲，」諾拉表示，「光想到要動艾靈頓公爵的作品，就已經很讓我膽顫心驚了。但是我是真的因為它而啟發出一些靈感。」
靈感正是「Feels Like Home」專輯的核心。諾拉在努力維持與「遠走高飛」專輯一樣的濃醇音樂性的同時，她也強調她並不想複製「遠走高飛」的成功模式：「我很高興大家喜歡我的上一張專輯，那紀錄了當時的我在音樂上的想法，現在這張專輯則反映出我現在的想法。這就是我對錄製唱片的感覺，就像拍快照一樣，紀錄下當時的心情。錄這張專輯帶給我們好多樂趣。」
